How they met
DanWen and Il built a life in Melbourne, and the city became theirs together, familiar street by familiar street. When it came to getting married, they didn’t need to look anywhere else.
The day
The ceremony was at the Melbourne Registry Office: official, intimate, the legal moment made real. From there the day opened up into the city they’d made their own.
Portraits moved through Parliament House, where the grand stone façade gave the photos a certain weight. Then to Chanel Melbourne, where the light and the architecture did what they do. Then to the Royal Exhibition Building, one of Melbourne’s great buildings, and at golden hour, one of its best backdrops.
The reception came last, and it was the part that felt most like them: a backyard gathering at their newly bought home. Family and close friends, the warmth that only comes from being somewhere that’s actually yours, the kind of afternoon that lingers.
A moment from the day
“The house still felt new. Having everyone there for the first time made it ours.” – DanWen
